Got Back from the Vet..for My Crestie

recently took my crestie to the vet ,vet said he had a fracture on his leg and his bones were a little soft ,he said it wasnt that bad ..YET!but i should gut load my crickets with mustard or collard green cause of the high calcium they have he said i could just gut load them with the greens and i shouldnt have to dust them if i did that,he also said when you dust they dont absorb all of it...but aborb more from the gut loaded crickets and get more calcium rate...im just confused cause ppl tell me to dust crickets and give CGD when..a 15 year + herp vet tells me to just give greens gut loaded crickets! gaaah! lol

You could always gut load the crickets and dust them...

keep up the healthy diet for your crickets and dust once every other feeding. They'll be fine.

Re: Got Back from the Vet..for My Crestie

We gutload our cricks on potatoes or leftover veggies from dinner. This seems to work well. Then they get dusted. You may also want to put the UVB light on her cage while healing. This helped when one of ours was having a bad time. I know they aren't up a lot during the day but the light seemed to help, even though it was minimal at best. She healed up quick. Good luck.

i would gut load your crickets and dust them everyother time.

do you use CGD ? if not i would use that more than anything . the guys who make it have bred 000s of Crested Geckos using CGD only .. it has been made exclusively for the needs of Crested Geckos ..

Id stick with using the CGD along with the crickets. Allen Repashy has bread 8 generations with out an insects, and just on his diet. If you want to up calcium Id get some Phoenix Worms.

Yip keep using diet! You can dust some crix to help add calcium but you also don't want the to get an overload! If yo have a uvb lying around make use of it for a while

You can dust the crickets with the Diet too to give them some extra boost.
