Re: My Brand New Crestie!

He's precious! Great photos, and congratulations!

Names...oh, I just love names...crested geckos always strike me as looking rather Aztec, so if I had one that's what I'd probably name him. Most of the Aztec gods' names are fairly unpronouncable, so I wouldn't go there, but the name "Aztec" is simple enough and conveys the feeling they give me.

With their bright crests, they also make me think of sun gods, so I might choose one of those names. Some of the ones I like are Helios (Greek), Lugh (Celtic), Ra (Egyptian), Apollo (Greek) and he was also sometimes called Phoebus because he was associated with light and radiance...I like Phoebus as a name also, and then finally there's Utu (Sumerian)...

You might not see them that way though. What sorts of names do you usually like?

Re: My Brand New Crestie!

I was actually thinking along the lines of a sun god.I really like Helios, and I also like Phoebus. He hides alot, so what are some names associated with hiding?

Re: My Brand New Crestie!

Well, the only ones I can come up with who had anything to do with hiding are Loki, a Norse god associated with a great deal of mischief and who certainly had to hide from the wrath of Odin on a great many occasions. There was also Horus, an Egyptian god, who had to be hidden by Isis (his mother) from the god Set because he was destined to grow up and defeat Set eventually. I haven't been able to come up with any others as of yet, but I'll keep trying It may be though that as your little guy settles in, he'll hide less and less, becoming bold enough to be out more often.
