thinking of getting one
I'm thinking of getting a crested gecko, and I was wondering if it is a bad idea to get a baby. I've also heard that males tend to pee on people a lot. is this true? What should I know before thinking about getting one?

Re: thinking of getting one
They are very cool little guys and easy to care for. Not sure about the peeing thing but babies are just as good to get.

Re: thinking of getting one
the reason I ask, is I've had horrible luck with these baby White's Tree Frogs, and I don't want it to die.

Re: thinking of getting one
My past experience with babies is that they are pretty hardy.

Re: thinking of getting one
I honestly do not see the difference between a baby and sub adult. As long as you give it a good lookover prior to purchase, see that it's healthy, eating, and of good weight you should be OK. If I remember correctly I mentioned in your tree frog post that the problem may lie in where you are getting your herps. It could possibly be parasites and or an ailment that is prevelant in that store.

Re: thinking of getting one
I'm not getting it from my store. I'm getting it from LLLreptile, they are a reptile specialist store, and I've ordered animals from them before. I'll be ordering it offline, so when I call, what are some questions I should ask?

Re: thinking of getting one
Age, weight, appetite, how often it's eating, date it was born, I'm sure there are more questions that other members can supply. I would also ask for a picture of that specific animal, not just a generic "I breed and sell these" picture.

Re: thinking of getting one
What is a good weight? are they supposed to have a fat tail, like Leopard Geckos?

Re: thinking of getting one
No they arent to have a fat tail. The weight im not sure on, you can generaly look at a crested and tell if its healthy or not.
I would say a baby because you can get them more used to you, like treating to to baby food and such off your finger tip. You could do the same with an older one too, just depends.
I know a few other places that have them. They may cost more but youll get hands on info from the breeder. Pangea Reptile is one great place. In a few months geckos will be alover Leopard Geckos and all. The guys and gals at pangea are great. Theyll show you the parents, they may have some fired up picks of the baby your intrested in.
