Early egg, late egg

So we have a female crestie with...shall we say...unusual breeding patterns. Her first clutch, as expected, wasn't a complete success. One egg dead, the other alive (not bad!). The egg that is alive is at EIGHTY FOUR days incubation. Upper maximum is 80 days...it keeps growing, though, and the shell keeps getting thinner.

Her next clutch has had more success. So much success that the first one hatched like a month early. It's 2/3 the size of a normal baby and has no crests yet. It's head is very very tiny. Its clutchmate still has a tiny tiny egg. It is not expected for a while yet.

The next clutch, we had two females lay at the same time. Too bad there was only 3 eggs. We suspect the strange female, Luna, laid only a single egg, though her laying friend Kitkat has had trouble keeping on weight (while Luna on the same diet, has not) and has resorbed eggs before for little reason.

Re: Early egg, late egg

well it's a crestie, so it's got a large head. But it's tiny compared to other hatchlings, so it would by most lizard standards look normal.
