The Christmas miracle

So as you all know, my girlfriends male gecko had genitle issues of late. Yesterday, I found our breeder female with some substrate encrusted on her nose. Kinda weird, she isn't one to be found anywhere near the ground...ever. I helped her get it off, then put her back to bed.

Today, I walked in to change the food dish (which is big now and right on the substrate). I found our breeder female, Kitkat, half under it in the substrate underneath. I picked up the dish, grabbed her to make sure this weird behviour wasn't something bad (ie mental distress after a tail loss)...She was sitting on two perfect little white eggs!!! I'm gonna leave them in there for a little bit because the mom seems quite intent on sitting on them but I will take them out and bring them to Calgary with me. What makes this so special is that the only male that has been near this female since she resorbed some eggs in early september is Pika...meaning they MUST be his eggs!! We're thrilled, but my girlfriend just left for Quebec for 3 weeks, leaving me the sole duty of caring for the eggs. Too bad she'll miss the show, eh?

Speaking of eggs...croc skinks are overdue and I haven't looked for a week...

Edit: I've just seen the female maul (no biting but some pushing) the male away from the area and she's got her head burried in the substrate, looking at the eggs. Do I take them out right away? Kitkat seems really intent on taking care of them.

Since I have pneumonia symptoms AGAIN, I thought I'd go into the clinic tonight. It was closed, so I have time between being very short of breath and pain to do my reptile stuff. No croc skink eggs yet .

However, the Crested Geckos were doing weird things. I took the eggs out cause Pika and Luna were swarming all over the area and poor Kitkat couldn't fend them off without sitting on the eggs herself. So as I went for the eggs, Luna bit Pikas nose, to which Pika replied with a massive attack, leaving her undamaged but scared. Since Luna has been getting aggressive, I put her in her own cage. I finally got the eggs out, they look AWESOME. The mom isn't hungry and she shed last night, so it could have happened tonight or last night. Either way, she keeps going to the spot to look for them, I feel horrible for taking them but I want what's best for them all (now she'll be able to eat again without worrying that the eggs will be eaten). She looks so sad and depressed now that they are gone...

Talk about a busy night.
