if it is one of those blacklights that makes your white shirts glow bright I would not use it, it is harmful to the herps eyes, there are alternatives though they have blue reptile night lights that glow low and can be used (thats what I am currently using), or they have a blacklight that that is a long fllourescent bulb that you can get from any light retailer or major store like home depot or lowes, its a BL, Where as the one used for viewing posters is a BLB. just my imput there are alot more people that I am sure will have even more great ideas, by the way welcome to the site, there is alot of great info and advice here and some great people

ENJOY

The "make the flourescent posters glow" type of black light will damage your herps eyes. They emit a UV type radiation but do not produce enough visible light to cause the pupils to dilate.
I wouldn't use it.

If I use a nightlight I always use blue, my animals react funny to red.

The blue ones mimic the moonlight. The red ones are being sold as "not visible to reptiles" but my Bearded Dragon used to hide from this "invisible" light when he was trying to sleep.

I would buy a blue one and use it indirectly, bouncing off the wall or ceiling.
