I.D. Help

My brother brought this little fellow home for me, and I was wondering what it was. The guy at the pet store told us it was an albino black rat snake, but wanted to get a second opinion.

He is a lively little booger. It's hard holding him in your hands because he loves to move!

Re: I.D. Help

The color and head say Califonia king to me, though the pattern is odd in pure kings (though I don't keep any so I'm not really up on all the morphs). I would put a dime to a dollar that theres rat snake blood of some kind in the line if it's pattern isn't a known morph.

I agree. That's a California king although the pattern is somwhat unusual and makes me think that it is a hybrid with some other species.

That statement itself is the first clue that the pet shop guy was blowing smoke at you!
Albino means the absence of black!
It is most certainly NOT a black ratsnake!

Re: I.D. Help

Maybe its not a hybrid!
Check out this page and the "scrambled banded morph" found near Los Angeles.
