feather rocks

Not really a product like a clamp lamp or anything but I didnt see another section that I felt this would be better put in. Sorry if you think it doesnt belong. I was curious if anyone has went out of there way and purchased feather rocks and used them in their cages/ tanks. In case you dont know what they are they remind me of coquina rocks but they are grey and extremely light for their size.

I have been using one for Sullivan for quite sometime and have never had any problems. I thought it was very convenient being that you can shape them easily. I work in construction so I used an old worn out paddle bit & drill, and hammer to shape it.

My question is... Should I not use the feather rock? it seems very convenient to me but then I have never heard of anyone else using them and I wasnt sure if there is something I dont know about them... Or if maybe I am one of the first to discover this wonderful creation Hopefully the latter

Re: feather rocks

pumice is a type of lava that has so many air pockets in it, that it floats.

Re: feather rocks

If it's safe for Cichlids it's probably okay as long as it isn't abrasive to the underside of the lizard.
I've never even heard of the stuff, you might have just discovered and new useful product!

Re: feather rocks

woot woot! Yea I have never had any problems with his underside. When I discovered it I thought it might have been useful in filing his nails... i think I was mistaken and that it might have sharpened them. lol but I like the fact that it is easily carved
