"Hobby Sunlight" UVB bulbs... please advise

Has anyone ever used the "Hobby Sunlight" UVB bulbs? Here is a link:

Yatego - Hobby Sunlight mit UV-A und UV-B Anteil

Here is another:

Aquarium-Teich-Terrarium Aqua-Design.com

I have yet to be able to find any information on this bulb in English, as it is made in Europe and all the stuff on the box and also internet is in spanish or german or something. I've heard good things about it. I am currently using rep-pro bulbs and they have served me well through thick and thin, but they are just too hot for the summer and I switch to flourescents now in the summer, which I do not like due to their less UVB output.

The Hobby Sunlight bulbs apparently come in lower wattages. I looked at the bulb itself and it does have a glass thing in the middle typical of a mercury vapor bulb, but I can't read any of the info either on the box or online about it.

So please can anyone let me know if you have any knowledge of this bulb, it would help me a LOT.

This is the only Softcopy info that I can translate with babelfish:

Hobby Sunlight with UV-A and UV-B portion of 75 W Sunlight, sunlight reflector emitter Natural sunlight imitating basis light for all Terrarientypen. Full 4 color spectrum with UV-A and UV-B portion. Color temperature 2,683 Kelvin, Color reproduction 73.6 RA, Illuminating intensity 410 lm.

NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT REPLY BY RECOMMENDING A MEGA RAY. THIS POST IS NOT ABOUT THE MEGA-RAY.

Have you tried the Megaray?
I don't know about that bulb. But I have heard to watch out for uv bulbs competing against the megaray but half the price. The ones I heard of are produced in China and the uv ratings are vastly different on each bulb. Some are very very low and others are dangerously high.

Please. I am serious about please not to use this post to plug the mega ray. I will not ever buy anything from reptile UV, even if it means I have to sell all my herps. You have the right to say whatever you want on any thread including this one, so you can reply in whatever way you wish. And if you still want to talk about the mega ray here, that's your right. But I am kindly and respectfully asking you use another thread if you wish to talk about the mega ray as it will not help with my current issue.

I am not asking about Chinese bulbs here. The bulbs I inquired about in my post above are from Germany. They're not meant as "mega ray knockoffs", but completely different product. Please reply if you have information about these specific bulbs.

I don't know what your issue is with Reptile UV, but whenever a thread is started pertaining to UV, expect to hear the Mega Ray suggested. It isn't a plug that he was doing, it was a suggestion. I myself have tested numerous lights on the market, and the Mega Ray IS the safest and most productive light out there of all the lights I have tested. (I have a solarmeter.)

While the bulb you are asking about is written in German, it is very likely it has been manufactured elsewhere. (Which could include China.)

I have viewed the links you posted, and neither of them are something I am familiar with.

Translated from German by babelfish:

Sunlight 50 W - sunlight
Sunlight reflector emitter.

Nat?iches sunlight imitating basis light f?alle Terrarientypen. Full 4-Farb-Spektrum with UV-A and UV-B portion. Color temperature 2,683 Kelvin, color reproduction 73.6 RA, Leuchtintensit?41,0 lm.

Contents: 1 St?

If the product has an actual name beyond "Sunlight" and you can list the manufacturer, I may be able to provide more information on this specific light.

Re: "Hobby Sunlight" UVB bulbs... please advise

Thanks Survivorsteph, I'm aware of the UV guide. Thanks for pointing it out again. Unfortunately they did their tests some years ago and from what I understand these Hobby Sunlight bulbs are pretty new, so they are not listed or tested on the UV guide.

Rich, yeap! I know that any UV thread (at least on herp center) would lead to people mentioning the mega ray. That's why I put the "Note" up there in my first post. But I'm asking about these other bulbs and their information, and if I don't put that "Note" asking not to recommend the mega ray, judging from previous threads, the ONLY responses I would ever get at all are "Get the mega ray...PERIOD" and I will not have gotten any useful information about the bulbs I am inquiring about, or any new info at all because I already know that you all love the mega ray and that I won't ever buy it.
The brand of the bulbs is called "Hobby". They have a line of stuff like "Hobby Sunlight", "Hobby this", "Hobby that". But they are probably so new that no one will have done a test on them yet probably. Maybe I'll just borrow a solarmeter. Just thought I'd ask and see if anyone knew. I mentioned Germany because that's where they are supposedly from and didn't want to anyone to confuse them with the "other" Chinese bulbs that everyone used to talk about (Rep-Pro). They may be made in China and there may be bulbs in China that are really really terrible but it isn't the point where they are manufactured, it's whether they are good. Chinese does not = bad. Afterall, I'm Chinese too and proud of it.

By the way Rich thanks for adding me as a buddy. I don't know about that system and didn't log on for a while before this so I missed you message to me before. What's that profile thing about? Is it like myspace? You're my only buddy there so I guess you're "Tom". LOL

Re: "Hobby Sunlight" UVB bulbs... please advise

Greetings Anthony-

I haven't heard anything about this new bulb. Your Rep Pro's are an excellent choice though.

Perhaps you should write to Frances Baines directly (e-mail addy is at the UV Guide UK website) and ask her if she has heard of them or has any real feedback. She's usually good about answering inquiries.

Sorry everyone keeps plugging that other bulb. I understood your note exactly and why you posted it. ;-)
