baby bromeliad?
I woke up this morning to find a blue flower growing out of the head of one of the bromeliads in my dart frog tank. Is this a "pup" or baby bromeliad?

Nope. As you said its a flower. Pups come off of the base. I don't know if bromiliads also reproduce by seed.

Its a flower. As Merlin said pups are produced off the base. Bromeliads can be reproduced by seeds also.
It just sprouted up overnight?

yes it did, i woke up today and found it. I could swear it was not there or even a remnant of it was there last night, unless I was just really really out of it while I checked my frogs last night b4 light's out. lol. can anyone tell me the reason that I have this flower? it is beautiful but if there is any possible way that I could get it to sprout more, omg that would be great my darts would look dazzling next to a tower of flowers. hehe (probably not going to happen)

i hope that this flower will turn out to be more than just a flower. It's beautiful, and if it turns out to in fact be a bromeliad pup, i'll be thrilled.

The pups come off the base. When the pups start forming the large flower (I forgot its name) will start to die. Two or three pups will form at once. The flower should continue to grow and mature then it will die, it probably won't be much later that the pups will start to form, you may even be able to see some forming now.
If you want more pups faster you can cut all the green leaves about 2/3 of the way down, this will shock the plant and it will start to produce the pups sooner and more effeciently.

That's really cool. I've never seen one bloom before, they're usually just in bud, at best...
I like bromelaids, but I've never actually *owned* one.
