This forum was too slow, so look what I got.
I went to the north florida Reptile expo today and took one of my baby cresteds with me, I didn't know it was going to turn into such a prosperous deal. Anyway I got these two beauts for one gecko, they are wild caught and the seller didn't know exactly what they are, I have a good idea but am going to check on some dart frog forums to make sure they are what I think.
By the way the expo was a good time. Unfortunately I am suffering a corneal abrasion on both my eyes at the time due to not wearing my safety googles and sanding. Let me just tell you it is the worst pain in the world, I couldn't sleep all last night, stayed up all night went to the expo, brought my frogs home and then went to the hospital were an eye doctor had to pick out chunks of metal from my eye with a pair of tweezers and a small drill thing

Captive dart frogs are not poisonous because they lack a 'trigger' that causes them to secrete toxins from their backs. In nature they eat a toxic peice of food that is transported through their bodies and turned into natural defense.

I ony have heard after a 6month period of being in captivity they lose the poisonous things. But I'm not sure. You said they were wildcaught.

Heh, I was gonna ask if they still had a kick to them as well, being they were wild caught. By the way the poisonous things they eat that attributes thier defense are ants. Some how I didn't think they were still being wc. I plan on getting a few Dendrobates and others once I get out of Fl. By the way, how far from Ocala are you, I need someone to herp with.

Im about 4 hours exactly from ocala.
The dendros above are from Costa Rica, green and black auratus'. The exportation of wild harvested dendros has been stopped, to the best effort, but they have outdoor colonies that they take from, I believe large greenhouse style setups.
