I'm taking the plunge!

Today Mom, Jerry (my brother) and I went to the Upscale Reptiles show in San Jose, CA. There were LOTS of dart frogs!! I purchased a great book Poison Dart Frogs (always have to do the research first), talked with several breeders (one of which I met on a PDF forum), and began purchasing the items I'll need to build a beautiful vivarium!!! Oh... I also bought some fruit flies and culturing medium. I figure I'd better get the knack of growing bugs before I buy frogs.

I have a few more items to purchase before I begin the viv, but I hope to start soon. With any luck, I'll have frogs by Christmas!!!

I'm sooo bad at that, but I promise to do better than I did with Gil's new enclosure!

Congratulations! What a model herp-owner: it would be soooooooooo hard for me to resist buying the frogs first and doing the research later!
Good for you that you're doing it the right way!!! (So many people give out that good advice, but it mostly comes from having done it the wrong way.)
I'm sure your frogs will be grateful to have such a knowledgeable keeper -- that knows how to keep their food in good supply!
Look forward to seeing your vivarium and your Xmas frogs!!!

LOL This is going to be a big step!
Coping with something the size of froggies when you have been used to iguanas and sulcatas!

Re: I'm taking the plunge!

YAY!!! thats the only thing that keeps me from dart frogs. The fruit fly cultures!!! Good luck with them, I hear that is more difficult than keeping the frogs.

Exactly! I'm REALLY nervous about it... so I'll just keep reading, exploring, and researching until I'm comfortable.
