Greetings! New Bull Snake...

Hello strangers! It has been a while, huh? I have had a lot of changes in the last year, including a new job that has kept me from spending much time doing anything but studying and taking care of the kids! But I will save that for another post .

On to the good stuff... I had re-homed all of my snakes (except for my Sinaloan that escaped and was never heard from again ), keeping just a baby Corn. I had no time to devote to my favorite hobby, and it was easier to just care for one snake for a while. I had my eye on this snake at my LPS since November, and finally settled down enough to go get him.

He was listed as a Gopher, but I believe he is actually a Bull - any insight would be appreciated. I am guessing he is about 3 or 4 years old, and has a pretty good disposition once he quits squirming (my daughter can get him to settle far faster than me - what the heck?).

Well, here he is. Let me know what you think - Bull Snake?

Re: Greetings! New Bull Snake...

Welcome back Michael!
Great looking little snake.
In many areas the terms gopher and bull are used interchangably.
That does look a bit different than the bullsnake I used to have.

Re: Greetings! New Bull Snake...

I had always wanted a Great Basin Gopher, and this one almost looks like a Sonoran, but it resembles so many Bull Snake pics I have googled.

Such a fine line, of course, but it would be nice to know. If only I knew the locality - but I am about the 4th owner.

Oh, and it's good to be back!

Re: Greetings! New Bull Snake...

That bottom picture of the pattern shows a design that is much different than my bullsnake. So maybe you do have a gopher.

Has he done the rattlesnake mimic at you yet?

Re: Greetings! New Bull Snake...

Hasn't done the mimic yet - he is pretty docile.

So, looks like we can either call it a Gopher or a Bull, huh? LOL!

Thanks so much for the input, Merlin. Can you post a pic of your Bull? I would love to see it.
