I came home yesterday to a completely silent family. My niece and nephew were visiting and they were all watching Family Feud. I walked in the room and everyone was so quiet. I decided to head back to my bedroom and relax for a bit until Doug came home. Doug called me and told me that Austin,nephew, had found Vegas. He found him but not alive. The worst part is he had just died. I guess the noise of the car coming down the drive way scared him and he made a dash across the edge of the driveway and when Austin saw him it was too late.My mother-in-law didn't see anything but parked the car and everyone got out to Vegas with part of his head smashed under the left front wheel of the car. To my surprise through all of this somewhat chilly and rainy weather he was alive and nothing had eaten him. Austin got a shovel and picked him up and tossed him in the woods. When I found out what had happened I did want to see and bury him so that he wouldn't be dinner for another creature. This has all been a pretty awful experience and I feel terrible but am completely shocked it turned out the way it did. This happened just 20 minutes before I got home.
