"guns don't kill people, people kill people"

now saying this, i'm for having tighter restrictions on obtaining guns. But I'm also for not putting a band aid on the issue. Guns aren't the problem, its society. Take away the gun and you still have an angry person who wants to do harm. If they want to harm someone, they will find another way. Sure, guns make it easier to get the job done, but if you want it done and you don't have a gun there are pleanty of alternatives.

Guns aren't bad, they're needed to protect us from our government.
Really it just shows that there is something terribly wrong with our society, a much deeper problem than who has guns and who doesn't. We really just need completely different change of ideas on what is going on.

I agree. As the old saying goes "if we outlaw guns only the outlaws will have guns." The problem here is one of human nature not mechanical tools. If some one wants to do harm to another they will find a way. And any half way knowledgable machinist can make a gun. The old street gangs used to do it with a peice of pipe.
There is definately a problem that needs to be addressed but I don't believe that banning guns will sove that problem.
