Re: Politically Incorrect - SO WHAT!
I myself have no issues with immigration. I do have issues though with those simply "sneaking" into the country. Their first act entering the U.S was "illegal". So technically, EVERY "illegal" immigrant is a criminal.
Unemployment issues in the U.S span every state. To some degree, it affects us all. I personally would like to see EVERY employer who is caught hiring an illegal immigrant prosecuted and heavily fined. In addition to the fine, I also want them to have to pay the immigrants social security, federal, and state taxes. Maybe then, employers would stop and think before they hire the illegals. This would give the illegals more incentive to come in legally. Heck, as stated, they come here illegally to work. If no jobs are available for them, they will have no choice but to come in legally to get hired!
This way, as João pointed out, the system of opening and closing the borders would be effective. Right now, it isn't effective because jobs are offered everywhere to illegals.
Take away the work, the illegal population would decline drastically. The only people coming here illegally would be those who intended on breaking the law to make money.
This simply means we need to lay tougher legislation down on employers who are hiring the illegals!
