Oh I could have fun with a thread like this. I still have the most eclectic music preferences of anyone I know
![]() If you haven't heard of Vitas, you're missing out. He also goes by "Bumac" sometimes. He's a Latvian opera and pop singer, only in his 20's, but he has an AMAZING voice. Now I'm not a huge fan of Russian pop, but his rendition of the "mad scene" from Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor (my favorite opera) is incredible, especially considering he's a guy. I also love his Opera 2, which he composed himself. Definitely check out both. The video for his Lucia di Lammermoor is really cool, and the live version of Opera 2 that he did in (I think) China is cool, as is the music video. I guarantee, even if you don't like opera, you will be in awe of his range and control.

Then I'm listening to Pandora, which is an internet radio-type deal where you tell them what songs you like, and they'll find songs that are similar to those for you to listen to. A couple of the songs that kept popping up were by a band called Daughtry. I liked them, actually, enough to decide to buy a couple of their songs from iTunes. That's when I learned that this was a band actually started by the guy from American Idol. Imagine my surprise. You know, I'm ashamed to say that for a moment I actually thought I wouldn't listen to them because of that? But then I decided I was being hypocritical, and bought them anyway. I guess I learned something there. ![]()
