That's the truth.
I tend to think of it as experimental sounds. Music that changes rhythm or pace on you, or that uses instruments in ways that haven't been done a whole lot. Music that sort of stretches out your mind. But like you, I've seen ethnic music lumped in there. Although some places now classify those as "world."

Tiger Army, AFI, Nothing to Loose all get a big thumbs up from me! I've seen Pennywise a few times, those guys are really good. Bad religion is also up there.

Its a collection of independant online radio stations. If theres a music genre its on there!

silence is golden.
Then when driving I have to have music on. It really depends on my mood. Classical for when I'm tired or sad. Techno/dance for a fun summer drive. I have a thing for angry girl music as well as angry guy music.

Nowadays, I prefer Jazz, Classic or Brazilian music (depending on the days)
When I was young(er), my favs were U2, Pink Floyd and Neil Young.
