I know, I know, my husband hates country too! Whenever I drive his car I make sure to leave his radio on the country station just to annoy him!!

Actaully country in pretty popular in my area (Philadelphia). You'd think we are in the north and that country is a southern thing but actaully the Mason Dixon line is less than an hour south of here!

But you can't go wrong with good old southern rock. Alman Brothers, ZZ Top, and Lynrd Skynrd.

I have pretty eclectic tastes in music running the gambit from Jimmy Hendrix. Led Zepplin (who most current heavy metal bands seem to be trying really hard to imitate very badly) to Kenny Gee, and the Rogues of Scotland, a rocking BAGPIPE band! I currently am listening to R. Carlos Nakai, who plays a wicked Native American flute!

I like classic rock, detest rap, and can take or leave peppy country but positively hate the whiney, draggy, twangy, get drunk and cry in your beer, country!

LOL I listen to all types of music from Metallica to 80s music to the beastie boys and hold onto your seats here, old school rap, you know a little tone loc is always funny, I came across some Sir Mix A LOt the other day and he was rapping about buttermilk biscuits LOL, The only rap my kids are allowed to listen to, lol. I will sometimes listen to 2 LIve Crew when my kids are not home, yes I know vulgar and foul, but hey we are being honest right.

Do any of you listen to more experimental or new age type music?

When I'm working I love listening to artists like Tricky, Portishead, Hooverphonic, Bjork or Delirium. I'm also a huge fan of more instrumental music, like Llewellyn, or classical music. Incidentally, some movie soundtracks have great instrumental music. Not that I don't love my loud angry alternative music as well, but I tend to listen to instrumental music more, because it helps me creatively.

I have to confess, though, that my biggest musical weakness is video game music. Give me the Final Fantasy VI or Katamari Damacy soundtracks, and I'm happy. Actually it's kind of embarassing just how much video game, movie and anime music I actually have.

Edit: I forgot the humor! I listen to a lot of really strange songs. My father introduced me to several from the '60s and '70s, too. I just like to laugh sometimes.

That's okay. My family's name is Richmond, and I live about two hours outside of Richmond, VA. Every year we have a three day convention at the Richmond coleseum that we go to, and we usually book a hotel room and stay down there. It is the MOST annoying thing ever, trying to book the room. The conversation usually goes something like this:

"I'd like a room for blah blah blah..."
"Certainly. What's the last name on the reservation?"
"Richmond."
"Yes ma'am, we are the Richmond Branch of... What name would you like to register under?"
"Richmond. Richmond family. It's my last name."
"Ma'am, what's the full name on your credit card?
"Typhanie A. Richmond!"
"So you want the reservation under the name 'A.' then?"

Sigh.

I agree with Merlin that country bites! Who gives a rats *** if you wife took your tractor too run over your girlfriend, moonshine shed, beat up pick up and your dog. I sure as **** dont lmao.

I guess im the only one who likes Psychobilly. Tiger Army, koffin kats, all awesome. Fast bass = mmmm good. The fact that Nick 13 from tiger army is good freind with AFI is just a plus . Now if Afi comes to indy and brings tiger army, i will wet my self with joy....

Also like a little electronic band Blaqk Audio.

I listen to a lot of what is called "New age" music. Only problem is that genre covers a lot of territory. Everything that doesn't have a niche seems to get lumped together under the catch all term "New age". This includes Native American, pagan, celtic, and a host of other ethnic types of music.
Of course to some folks new age simply brings to mind the likes of John Tesh and Yanni!... Yawn!
