Is there a way to guage how much I should be feeding a 12 inch head to tail and 5 inch head to vent nile monitor? I fed him a small goldfish and four crickets yesterday, but im starting to wonder if he knows when to stop eating? Also I believe that he has grown nearly two inches in two weeks is that a good growth rate for him? I'm actually not quite sure on his age but when I got him you could see where his yoke had detached and had healed over somewhat. I feed him every day and his crickets are dusted every other day.

Feed him as much as he will eat at this age, niles arnt known for overeating. And 2 inches in 2 weeks for a hatchling is a normal growth rate. How often do you feed him goldfish? Have you tried pinks yet?

well the thing is he bloated up after eating the four crickets and the goldfish so I didn't wanna give him anything else. I keep the goldfish in a tank so I can give him one every day. I really haven't bothered to get him pinks because I figured with the dusted crickets and goldfish he should be getting adequate calcium and protein. Should I be feeding him a pinky once a week too?
