Substrate heater required?

Wondering if I need to use a substrate heater for Ackies.I'm setting up my enclosure with a basking lamp over the plywood stack. But do I need to heat the soil from underneath as well? I'll be using about 6" of substrate when they are adults.

Hello,

I am not a monitor owner, but it wouldn't hurt to toss a heater under a portion of the soil. I don't believe it is required however if the temps are consistent and the ackie has a basking spot.
