    Paver Sand Vs Play Sand?

What's the difference between the two? The paver sand is cheaper but I'm not sure what it is exactly. Would it be to rough for a lizard to dig, should I just get the play sand or some of each? Is paver sand rougher or what is the difference? thanks

the reason folks recommend play sand, it's washed......

Construction sand is not, so it can contain some nasty debris mixed in.

I almost shoveled sand up from my sand bar out back, when I realized it had a lot of pebbles in it, Not wanting to risk my lizards swallowing a small stone, I chose not to use it.

Hi Wayne, swallowing bits of substrate is "normal" for these animals, if they have the proper conditions (temps, humidity etc ) as your two do, no problem. The far bigger risk to their health is housing them together (but obviously it can also work very well indeed)!

Why take a chance that a marble size rock could accidentally get swallowed, I'd just prefer to not "experiment" with that one.

If I can't afford a couple sacks of sand, I shouldn't have lizards.

    Yep, I did... when needed.

The particular vein of soil I shoveled from was nearly pure loam. Not sure if you remember, but I had the issue with bees in the dirt waking up, because I was harvesting the soil in the winter.

After the bees showed up, I did sift all the soil after that, to sift out the bees.

I do pick up little pebbles here and there, and those lizards are always digging, heck I found 2 new holes dug last night.

Whenever I see stones small enough to get swallowed, I pick them out.

I got the playsand and since I'm bad with measurements I bought WAY more than I needed. The good side to that is I used the rest to re sand the patio for my mom. It didn't sound like it'd be that much work when I offered to do it! It was way more work than I thought, took quite a while.
