    V. Ornatus Pics

For those of you who want to see them (Stefan), Here are some better pictures of a young Varanus ornatus, or in laymans terms, The tiny being that will become the behemoth that Stefan had. Enjoy!

    Re: V. Ornatus Pics

Hi Kody, nice looking monitor you have! I`m guessing he/she is around 18inches ToL just now?
I did put my V. ornatus` growth record up a couple of years ago, I`m not sure if it`s still here somewhere?
Dont forget to put many stout, firmly fixed branches in the next enclosure, they are almost semi arborial, even as adults, as well as being the most aquatic African Varanid.

Im doing my best with him.

Oh, does anyone here have any ideas on how to move him from enclosure to enclosure without ruining his attitude towards me?

I did something similar to Aja. I coaxed them into a tupperware and just clipped the lid on.

    Nice looking Ornate!

Yes, you can move him as Aja and Randy suggested (very good), another way I like to try is to do it when he`s not looking.....
The only slight criticism I have is that the new enclosure is quite small, it won`t last much over 6 months or so, then more stress moving again (and expense).

Yea, Its not that large, but it will do hijm wayy better than what he his in currently. When he outgrows it,
Ill put my small boa in it.

    ....sweating so bad. Lol

It is getting there. I should have it done in the morning. I'm looking forward to giving him a new home

Second coat of water sealant being applied now.

Stefan, Is this more what you had in mind?

    66" (5.5ft) wide, 33" deep, and 28" tall.

This is the first cage ive ever built. Lol
