    Monitor with Heat Lamp Burns???

I just got a very pretty savannah monitor from a friend of mine. He can't take care of her anymore so now she is coming home with me this sat!
Now the question I have for you her burns are almost all healed up but there is one that is still boiled up a little do you think I should keep her on some astro turf until its fully healed?I know she needs her sand and soil mix but don't want it to mess with her burns? So do you think that's ok for now? Thanks in advance !!

Keeping her on turf or newspaper is fine until the wounds close - you're right - you don't want to complicate things by getting dirt in them. Once she is healed, sand and soil are fine.

Are you putting anything on for the burns?

Good husbandry is the best way to insure a speedy recovery from most external wounds/injuries. Good thermal and humidity gradients along with proper diet and good hydration keeps these animals natural healing abilities strong. You are not likely to achieve the desired humidity levels in an enclosure lined with astro-turf or news paper. A little bit of dirt in the wound won't hurt so long as the animal is kept healthy. Removing the soil/sand removes the humidity which could easily result in a dehydrated lizard which is a much more complicated problem than a bit of dirt in a wound. Good hygene is also key. Be sure the cage is free of fecal matter at all times along with providing fresh water.
