Does anyone use fans to circulate the air? If so does it help or hinder the humidity levels?
In a smaller enclosure I figure it would be a bad idea as the heat gradients would change as the heat is dispersed.
If the temps drop/rise it`s bound to effect the humidity level somewhat, but then again, a small fan of course wouldn`t have too great an effect, and running on a very slow speed. It`s worth a try, I think... ?

Re: What Makes a Quality Enclosure?

Well I thought in a higher enclosure it would help disperse some of the heat, pushing it down from the top.

Yes, it would disperse the heat making the hot-spot cooler, it`s no different to a cool breeze,.. are you trying to just get some air circulating, because I don`t quite understand the gap between the glass being THAT much of a problem? Is there something that`s bothering you about the enclosure...temps, humidity?

Re: What Makes a Quality Enclosure?

I was just wondering if anyone used the fans and their results. Possibility that I would put a few at top to push some heat down further for ambient temps.
It was just a general question in the line of "What makes a quality enclosure" topic.

Re: What Makes a Quality Enclosure?

Oh, I thought you were having problems! It`s still worth getting a small fan and trying it out, someone has to be the first, Michael, I think it`s quite a good idea!

Re: What Makes a Quality Enclosure?

not bad - I'd have an outdoor one if I had an outdoor place to put it - the drawback to apartment living is NO YARD!, Lol.

What did you use for the mesh?

Re: What Makes a Quality Enclosure?

Nice work, Greg! The only thing that matters is it allows access to natural sunlight, and is safe for the animals and the keeper and family etc., looks aren`t important! ( Nothing wrong with the way it looks, anyway!)

Re: What Makes a Quality Enclosure?

you may have seen these pics of my bosc enclosure before...

hide stuffed with substrate... a good idea for diggers like boscs....

he's now in a different enclosure, which is off the ground, he was getting quite stressed down there on the floor! I've also changed to orchid bark instead of the coco husk in the pics. I managed to get a huge bag really cheap and I find it works well. it's not exactly burrowable, but a small bosc like mine can bury himself under it.

Re: What Makes a Quality Enclosure?

Greg, I didn't know you were so young.lol
I wish I had the environment for an outdoor habitat.

Myo, you'd better be planning on the larger habitat soon. Looks like that one should hold moisture pretty good.
