Busuzima the Savannah Monitor
Here are some pics of my boyfriend's savannah monitor Busuzima. (pronounced boo-suh-jeema) We don't know if it's a male or female, as I'm not quite sure how to sex monitors. Anyway, this is out in his yard. We put him on a leash...He wasn't too sure...but after we fed him a rat pup he was happy!

Re: Busuzima the Savannah Monitor
Good for you for having him leashed, but you would be much better off using a hip leash with him. It goes around the body right in front of the hind legs as opposed to the throat.
Most monitor and iguana keepers use them and prefer them. And you can make them yourself for about a buck! A Simple Hip Leash Design - Reptile Information - Caresheets Database

Savs are awesome. I wish I had room for one. He's looking a little plump though.

Re: Busuzima the Savannah Monitor
If you soak him in some warm water, that will help get the shed off his back.

Re: Busuzima the Savannah Monitor
Yeah, I used a wet q-tip to get some of it off, but we definitely need to give him a bath. We also got a small dog harness that we put on him, and it seems to be working well. (btw, he's definitely a male. I'll post a pic in another post proving it)
