That was an interesting find.

I'm not sure I would have put the male back in with the "female" though, after seeing such aggression in the first place. I don't really like the fact that it ended with her death. Though now I wonder how common hermaphrodism is in monitors.

I agree with you on that. Aggression that caused his/her death had to be noticeable. There definitely isn't many documented hermaphrodites in monitors. But then there wouldn't be many getting a necropsy after dying.

that was certainly fascinating. Of course it's possible for all animals to be hermaphditic, I guess I never considered it in reptiles! I personally would not have put the male back in. Especially after causing a bleeding wound.
