Re: Puzzling Ackie
Hi Robert, thanks for the info.
Actually she is still alive, and still quite large. I too assumed her health would rapidly decline. But doesn't seem the case.
She stills has an appetite however needs to have the food quite close as she doesn't move around a whole lot.
I'm keeping an eye on her and deciding when to put her to sleep. I don't want her to suffer too long.

Re: Puzzling Ackie
Mike, the fluid buildup is not IN her guts, but AROUND them. So long as she is alive she will need calories and nutrients (food), so your description fits in. The more she eats, the bigger she will get. I am not sure how to gauge her discomfort, though.
Certainly an odd situation and one for the books.
Good luck -- to BOTH of you.

Re: Puzzling Ackie
Thanks, I don't get attached to my pets all that much. It will suck though having to put her down.
She hasn't been interested in food lately so I think it won't be long.

Famous last words!
(sigh) You never know just how attached you are until they're gone.

Re: Puzzling Ackie
I put her to sleep last night. It was a spur of the moment thing.
She's hasn't eaten in nearly a week, and I could tell breathing was very difficult.
I thought it best for her to go, rather than go through through pain any longer.
She was a good girl. The tamest of my monitors and gave me my first eggs.

Re: Puzzling Ackie
Sorry for your loss Mike.
Something very similar happened to my rainbow boa female, Talyn.
It was tough; I was looking forward to babies and in the end had none and I lost her as well. Harsh.
