Perenties at Indian River

I just found out a Reptile Zoo north of me is on the list to receive a breeding pair of Perenties(Varanus giganteus from Australia Zoo.
Canada was very open to the early works of Steve Irwin and because of this we have been chosen to receive this large monitor. YAHOO.
It hinges on satisfactory habitat requirements, which they are raising funds for now. It should be no problem as they always do everything to the max.
Hopefully I can take a bike trip up there and get lots of photos before the fall.
Here's some more info and a pic of the species. They are an absolutely stunning animal.

Cool stuff. Sounds like an excellent reason for a road trip...

Re: Perenties at Indian River

Oh I plan to. Hopefully it's still bike season when they get them setup. It's about a 3 1/2hr-4 hr drive. Still closer than Australia though.
