Medium sized monitor

I'm looking into monitors and I have a friend who breeds Water Monitors and would give me one, but I read that they get near 9ft. I'm looking for one that gets from 2-4ft. Any suggestions?

Re: Medium sized monitor

That's the range of Peachthroat monitors. They are very pretty. Also Savannahs don't often get bigger than 4 ft.

Re: Medium sized monitor

I have a Tegu, my daughter has a Savannah. They are both good pets.

Re: Medium sized monitor

I have a young ornate nile monitor and I worry about it all the time. When he is 6ft long the book I have said I'd prolly have to give it its own bedroom!

I wonder what I can build to house it???? Perhaps a good zoo will adopt it

Don't count on that, buying a reptile and housing it for the duration of its life is your responsibility. There are thousands of unwanted animals out there and the zoos are generally not willing to take private pets.

If you have the space outside build a insulated shed for it. Thats what I want to do when I get my monitor, granted, i think the plan's I drew up are a bit overkill, (about 12' by 16' with a 2' interior viewing area) but it would be sweet. Guess it also depends how familiar you are with tools and construction, and what your willing to spend, mine would probaly end up costing me well over a grand, and thats with me doing the work, and before I buy the stuff for the inside of the enclosure.

As for YzFracers question, from what I heard kriminaal hit the nail on the head.
