name question
I was at my local pet store that I buy my monitors from and she said they will be getting a black grove monitor I went to do some research but I cant seem to find anything is this the right name? I dont know if she was talking about a mangrove but I didnt know if those come in black. If anybody could help so I can find information

That's the problem with common names. They get mis-used and some of them are just made up by the supplier at the time.
Tell them you want the exact species name not a common name. If you don't really know what it is you can't properly care for it.

I am not certain about the laws where you live, but here in MA the petstores are required by law to list the animals latin (official) name with the animal.
As mentioned, many petstores rename animals to suit their needs or to dictate coloration, etc. The latin name however allows the potential owner the ability to research the animal properly and to find out its "true" name. |

Oh, Yeah, Black throats are beautiful as babies. At least the ones I've seen. If you get one you might as well name him "Jethro"! It will need A LOT of food! (Remember the "Beverly Hillbillies"?)
