This is what our member has to say: so I just noticed this but my new nile monitor is missing some toes it doesnt seem to bug him at all he still runs ...

question again

so I just noticed this but my new nile monitor is missing some toes it doesnt seem to bug him at all he still runs a 1000 mph in my back yard but do they grow back? there are 2 that are halfway missing and another 2 that are completly gone my vet is on vacation so I just thought I would ask here for now

Simple question simple answer. No they won't grow back, though as you said it really doesn't cause the animal problems. Make sure the proper humidity is given and keep an eye out for stuck sheds so he's able to keep the ones he has left.

I wish they would grow back. My oldest male monitor is missing most of the toes on one of his front feet.(happened before I aquired him) As Titus said periodically check for stuck sheds. Proper humidity can help but I've had monitors lose toes even with good humidity.
