Looks good for a pair

With the pair of Ackies I bought about 3 months ago I had no idea if they were a pair or not. After checking their spurs out and such I thought they were both male. But yesterday I saw one 'jockeying' for position. Should be a good sign I got a pair.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but males will assume the mating position when jockeying for dominance (as will females). With two males, they'll even go as far as inserting a hemipene into the other's cloaca.

What you want to watch for is their behaviour before and after mating, whether it's frantic head twitching or subtle head twitching, and whether or not they seem 'cosy' with each other. Also, when the female is receptive, they'll mate frequently over several days, then stop.

How about going to a vet and get a probe confirmation? I only heard it can be done, don't know how exactly it works.

Probling is used for sexing snakes. To my knowledge it is not applicable for sexing lizards.

Merlin you are incorrect....sort of. I "probe" skinks by pulling back the top part of the cloaca to revel the little bits. It's technically not probing in the vernacular but some consider it so. Might actually work for monitors, especially ackies who are smaller and easier to handle.

Steve, is that also not refered to "popping" ? or am I misinformed ? I too thought only snakes could be probed to determine sex. Learn something new everyday !!!!

That would be more along the line of "popping".
Probing is the actual insertion of a metal "probe" into the snake's body.
