Tympanic membranes pick up airborn vibrations; Most, if not all geckos, posses these menbranes. So, yes, they can hear and most as good as we can. Speaking however, the earles lizards, snakes and all the sort can hear as well without the Tympanic, the quadrate can pick up vibrations via the ground and louder noises.
Granted the systems are far more advance than that, but yes, they all can hear-including snakes.

Yeah I knew they could hear on some level and that snakes could hear on some levels but not very well so I was wondering if any could actually hear. I was actually making the assumption that they could by all your pictures. They seem to look up at the camera (expecially the water dragons). I've never seen a snake looking at a camera unless its a real close up and it's going for the camera...but the water dragons expecially have a lot of pictures where they're tilting their heads like dogs and looking up at the cam

LOL! That is more the reaction of a lizard that associates you coming in with food.
They are afraid they might miss something!

Yes, Leopard Geckos can hear just as good as many of us can.

Water dragons strike that pose for the exact reason Merlin said...they associate us with food..espicially my cubby buggars so they are basically expecting you to give them food and when you dont they are like swwaaa????

I did an experiment today. Today was cricket arrival day, when I got home from work they were still in their box chirping away. I noticed that the Bearded Dragons were cocking there head in the direction of the beadies and listening. I moved the cricket box and the Bearded Dragons followed the sound with their head movement and changed directions and ear that they were hearing out of.
