California is stupid
Well, I found a great site that listed the restricted animals in California. This really bites though. I can't take Bond...James Bond, my clawed frog, to California with me Nor can I take Tiger, my blotched tiger salamander and friend for 11 years Oh, and Pong-pong, my spotted salamander, will also be left behind Looks like all my other pets are legal though, though some may require licenses, probably my pheasant, Rupert. This really bites. PLUS, I'll have to scratch a lot of critters off my wish list cause they're illegal in Cali. So much for my alligator, gaboon viper, springhaa, ferret, sugar gliders, hedgehog, kinkajou, and probably several others I can't think of at the moment. Rrrr, this really ****s.
Ok, so now I need to find out the pet laws in florida. See, there's this base in florida that I had wanted, but I wound up with Cali instead. If florida's laws are less restrictive than Cali's, I'm gonna try and switch with somebody. Don't worry, you're allowed to switch with people who have your same job.

California being a largely agricultural based area is totally paranoid about bringing virtually anything in. They are even worse with plants. Don't get caught trying to enter the state with a peice of raw fruit in your lunch sack!

I can sorta get some of their restrictions. Its mostly to protect the native wildlife. There are a lot of amphibians in Cali that are threatened or endangered and if non-natives came in and started competing with these natives, it wouldn't be good. They already have established breeding populations of tiger salamanders, red-eared sliders, african clawed frogs, bullfrogs, etc. Still, MY pets won't get loose and I won't release them, so there's no problem with me bringing mine there. Poo. Its not fair Yeah, clawed frogs are banned and so are all mole salamanders (Ambystomatidae), which includes tiger and spotted salamanders like mine. Still, I think Cali is a little overzealous in some of their restrictions. If you can't have ferrets then you certainly shouldn't be able to have cats! They don't want ferrets because of the potential danger to native small animals like birds and amphibians. So anyway, if I can't get switched to florida, then it looks like at least three of my critters will either staying at home, or I'll have to let some of you guys adopt them
