Yes, but not as a typical lizard. The nine banded armadillo from the amazon rain forest is sometimes known as the forest armadillo.
I checked into it and what some dealers are calling a forest armadillo is a tropical banded lizard.

My husband said he saw a forest armadillo lizard, but it turns out that it's just an armadillo lizard. It's strange though.

They're kind of cute. I've never come across them over here though. Maybe I will convince hubby to move to America so I can get a better selection lmao

Actually no, the "forest armadillo lizard" is NOT the same thing as an actual armadillo lizard. Armadillo lizards are a type of girdled lizard (genus Cordylus). Armadillo lizards (Cordylus cataphractus) are the only members of the genus that are capable of rolling in a ball (hence their name). They are very rare in the pet trade. There is a member of eth same genus that is becoming fairly common though, and thats the tropical girdled lizard (Cordylus tropidosternum). These are very rarely sold under the proper name. The most common name these go by in pet stores is "forest armadillo lizard". They, unlike their cousins, cannot roll in a ball, and have rather different care requirements. Here's the physical difference between the two:

Cordylus cataphractus

Cordylus tropidosternum

C. tropidosternum can exibit both a reddish coloration, such as in the link above, and a duller brown color.

Good to know furryscaly. a "Forest Armadillo Lizard" is really hard to find on the internet so that's why I posted. But it's really good to know that I shouldn't trust the content of the care sheets for them, we've already decided before I posted this not to get one for many reasons but I was just wondering about it.
