I've recently noticed a rather strange thing with my Collared Lizard. He appears to have some sort of phobia about the color red. You can approach his tank, and get right down and look in with no problems...unless you are wearing anything that is red. If you have on a red shirt, red hat, etc, he flips out, and tears around the tank in a blind panic until you move away. I've done some experimenting, and he only does this with red.

Has anyone else run into this sort of thing?

yeah, its was the same way with my iguana..anything red made him flip, lol

My Bearded Dragons are the opposite...they will eat anything red or pink, lol

Yeah my pets...collared included, will charge AT anything red or orange...my friend dyed her bangs hot pink and as soon as zola saw it he tried to attack her!

Collareds and iguanas can see UVA light, which I believe makes red stand out like a giant neon pink sign. It freaks them out I guess cause nothing they'd see in the wild is normally red. In humans, the color red inflicts feelings of rage, and also hunger. The rage part is why we think that it affects bulls, even though bulls are color blind. The hunger part is also brought on by yellow and orange, which is why these three colors are the most popular in the fast food industry. They make you hungry.
