Looks kinda like one of the little species of fringe-toed lizards, Acanthodactylus sp.

The pattern is close, but the body is wrong. Whatever this is, its an agamid of some type. Genus is most likely Agama or Laudakia, bt I'll see if I can narrow it down.

Here's an Acanthodactylus. These lizards are lacertids, not agamids. The nose is pointed, the body slim, and the scales on the head are large and smooth.

I believe the lizard in question may be closely related to the star agama (Laudakia "Agama" stellio), which is currently the only agamid I'm familiar with in that area, though there are surely others.

Yeah I agree with Matt that it's some kind of agamid, but that's as close as I can get..

What a cutie anyways! Stunning patterning.

Bingo, I'm almost 100% certain he's genus Trapelus. They're agamids.

T. pallidus, T. haasi, T. agilis, T. isolepis, T. khuzistanensis, T. pakistanensis, and T. sanguinolenta are the species I've found to be native to Iraq.

Here's a T. savugnyi for comparison. Its the closest thing I could find in a pic. As far as I know, this species could also be native to Iraq.

I was going to say the same thing based on head and body shape, but further then that, well glad we have Matt.
