Green reptile carpets

A word of warning: be VERY careful with those carpets you can buy for reptiles!! With snakes it is OK,but I just bought a book about water dragons, and the author tells about one of his dragons loosing a toe because of those carpets!!
And this is for all lizards and herps with toes!!
I hope you take this message to your heart and change your substrate, those of you who use carpet!

I have been concerned about that too but have never had a problem with any of the herps catching a claw. I have been using carpet for about a year but I don't buy the reptile carpet, it's way too flimsy. I buy the outdoor carpet from Home Depot, it's more sturdy and a lot cheaper and doesn't appear to have any "loops" for them to get caught on.

I always thought of that but never payed any mind untill one day I saw my chinese WD wakasashi flailing around desperatley in his tank, I rushed over to take a closer look and saw that his claw was caught in one of the carpet loops , he was so scared and confused he probably would have ripped his whole foot off! I took him off and got bit in the process (there's gratitude for ya!) but he was ok it was very scary and I stopped using them since that day
