Wow, 2 compatriots of mine =)
I've seen both and in fact I held the Iberian Worm Lizard a lot of times. When I was little and went digging for worms (I was quite the fisherman back then ) I use to find a lot of them.

That's awesome. I've seen them in zoos, but nevr in a pet store. Too bad I wasn't there, I'd probably have another lizard

Oh I wanted to buy it pretty badly, but I'm not quite prepared to take care of another reptile yet, and my husband would have murderized me for bringing another one home!
....plus it was $74 (plus tank, plus food, etc), which I don't happen to have at the moment...

I keep European legless lizards, and I feed them mainly meal worms and pink mice. They don't seem like crickets much at all. They're a species that actually prefers cooler temperatures, so a lot of supplimental heating isn't necessary. There is also some debate on whether they need UV lighting or not, but I use it anyway. Their bodies aren't like snakes, they are very stiff scaled - almost armor plated. They don't have the flexibility a snake has to coil up. They generally don't like to be handled, and will actually do "death rolls" in your hand to get you to let them go. The majority of their body length is tail and it is rather fragile and known to come off much easier than most species of lizard that can drop their tail. All in all, they make very easy captives and have weird personalities - behaving a lot more like a lizard than a snake, despite their appearance.
There are several species, even some native to North America known generally as glass lizards - they're known for being harder to keep, more fragile. Some even eat other lizards as a main diet. ![]() D |

Fantastic! Yours looks as awesome as the one I saw! The one in the pet store did exactly what you said...while the guy was holding it, it "death rolled" several times. Pretty amazing!
