Suggestions: Smaller "Active" Herp

hey all!
i currently have a tank with three anoles, and a tank with one pachydactylus sp. gecko. they hang out in the living room, much to the enjoyment of the cats. the anoles are active and fun to watch all day. but the gecko is a nocturnal species, and when he is out, he's not real active (this doesn't deter the cat one bit though from sitting in front of his tank for hours trying to figure out how to get past the glass...). i worry that the cat's presence might stress him out. that and my bf would like a more "active" lizard in that tank, as its out where it can be seen. so I plan to move the gecko to the bedroom, where he can be cat free and in the dark for more hours. that leaves an open 10 gal tank to be filled in the living room.

so i'm asking for your suggestions for a smallish (could fit in the average 10 gal aquarium sized tank) "active" critter. we both really wanted a Bearded Dragon, but don't have room right now for the proper tank. and since its not a "tall" tank, i don't want to put anoles in it, otherwise thats the route i'd go.

suggest away!!!

thanks
