Welcome to Herp Center.
I'm not sure about any reputable chinese tree dragon breeders, you could try checking around for upcoming reptile expos in your area, someone there may have one, or know who breeds them, other then that its usualy just alot of looking around online.

Just curious, what type of setup do you have?

Re: Japalura Splendida

i have a 40" length by 16" depth by 20" hieght glass aquarium. i have been reseraching about them alot. im pretty sure i have everything ill need i understand the UVB, temperature, feeding and supplementing needs of the tree dragons. i will have plenty of climbing space, a huge water dish to soak in, i was thinking of using unfertilized potting soil and then putting some moss to see if it grows and covers the bottom. i have a tree trunk and ill attach some vines all across the tank, including a basking area, 78-82 is the recommended temperature if ive read right?
... i know off topic, but these are my two panther chameleons. they both just shed this week and showing off some gorgeous colors

Re: Japalura Splendida

Thats a interesting size aquarium?
Volume wise i'm getting about 55 gallons, but i have not seen any 55 gallon tanks like that before. cool.
And it sounds like plenty of room for one, were you planing on getting one, or more?
I don't own any of these, but have looked into them.
The temperature sounds about right, when i looked up information on them i got from 78-80F for the basking area, with ambient temperature being around 75-76F, but it sounds like you've done quite a bit of research on them.

Hopefully someone else who owns or has owned one of these guys wil chime in here.

Those are some nice looking chameleons

Re: Japalura Splendida

Unfortunately the vast majority of these available in the pet trade are wild caught.
I know that Bert Langerwer of Agama International has done some work with them but I don't know if he has them available.

Re: Japalura Splendida

I'd take a look through the Water Dragon, and habitat construction forums, there are quite a few pictures posted.

So, the tank is about 65 Gallons?

Re: Japalura Splendida

If you get babies...that will hold two of them for a lil while. Give you time to build a bigger one. Are you planning on breeding them or separate them when they get older? I have a male and a female that started out together...but had to separate them because of dominance issues. My female was starving & freezing my male and I almost lost him last year. My cage that I am building for just my female (she is bigger than my male...so gets gets hers first) is 6' wide x 5' tall x 2' deep. When she is settled in hers...then I will build one for my male. Gwenchuk (sp?) has an awesome one in the construction gallery. Tricia's page also has some "simpler" cage setups as well. Getting info from others here on the network is a great way to avoid big mistakes. Ask away & Welcome to HC!
