Re: I accidently ripped off my lizard's tail
Tail loss is far more traumatic for owners than it is for the lizard itself. What happened? Is it a clean break? How far up? If its up high on the tail or ragged i'd advise you get it looked at. Otherwise you can keep it clean (put the lizard or towels or carpet) and put neosporin on it (Only use the NON-painkilling type) and watch for tissue death or for odd smells or mushy texture.

Re: I accidently ripped off my lizard's tail
it was a very clean break. was just trying to grab her up, and she ran out of my hand before it closed on her body. only had her for a month and was doing my normal routine to get her adjusted to a little bit of handling. but I guess sh%& happens. definitely seems more traumatic for me then her. she hasbeen running around like the normal crazy girl she is. as for what I have done, i cleaned her wound and put neosporin on it. if you want to see a pic of her before the de-tailing check out my myspace, em2mccue. thanks for the advice

Re: I accidently ripped off my lizard's tail
Don't feel too bad, it's what nature intended. The same thing happened to me when I was handling one of our skinks at the store. I was removing him from the tank to do a routine cleaning, and he moved so quick I barely knew what happened. Luckily it was only the tip, but I was quite upset as well. They don't grow back as pretty as they used to be.
