Yeah, I WANT to put tree frogs and anoles together, but won't. I don't have quite enough space. Maybe someday if I could build a huge vivarium, with enough hide's for all of them to get away from each other, and plenty of space id like to; but it would be real tough. As of now, the two that are beating everything out are treefrogs or Anoles, I'm still open to suggestions though.

Re: And The Award for Indecisiveness goes to...

I have a 29 here too, that currently houses two female anoles (one Bahaman/Brown Anole, and a Green Anole) and a Green Anole male. They get along for the most part (there have been no injuries, at any rate). Said tank -also- houses three Long tail Grass Lizards, who also seem to get along with the Anoles.

The only issue I have come across is that the Long tails occasionally steal food from the Anoles. Makes for an interesting tank to watch.

You can also house Japalura in that tank, if you have enough climbing space. I've seen this mesh 'riser' for 29/30 gal tanks that might also help give you some more options - basically it doubles the size of the tank.

For a time, I had a green tree frog in the community tank above, before I was forced to move them from a 55 to a 30 - they seemed to get along fine (there where, again, no injuries or fatalities).

Also, you can house House Geckos in with these guys, though only one or two, and be careful - mine was/is an escape artist!

Hope this helps!

Alis

Old post, I've since converted the tank to a vertical vivarium, And when i'm finished with my current project, i'll most likely purchase 2 red eyed tree frogs, though i am tempted to buy a Japalura for it instead.
The mesh risers don't work all that well, all the heat and humidity go right out the top.
I have since come to understand what factors there are when mixing species, and it goes well beyond just one being able to injure or kill the other.
But thanks anyway.

No problem, it does go beyond the whole injury thing - the temperaments have to be fairly well aligned, and you generally don't want them living in the same 'aspect' of the enclosure (for example, house geckos tend to stick to the walls of the tank, where as the anoles tend to stay to the plans in the middle, and the long tails roam almost all the time).

I've been meaning to look at Japalura myself - almost bought a trio of them for my 40, but it wasn't properly configured for them at the time, and by the time it was, they where taken already.

Have to keep my eyes open for more.
