Welcome to HerpCenter,
Looks like a small monitor of some sort. Its not venomous if that is what you are concerned with.
Its probably more scared of you than you are of it.
If you leave it alone it will likely find its way back outside.

Re: Need Help To Identify this lizard

Welcome. For a quick shot, that's a beautiful photo.

If you are really afraid of lizards, it might be worth getting someone to make sure that it is gone for your peace of mind. If not, it's not venomous, and not likely to bite you unless you corner it.

Re: Need Help To Identify this lizard

Could be a young water monitor. Take a look at the nostrils if they are near the end of the snout, that's probably what it is.

Re: Need Help To Identify this lizard

Based on color and location I'd agree with Mike in that it's a juvenile water monitor. He likely found his way in there looking for rats or mice to eat. If you see him again you can probably shoo him out with a broom or something, but he's not dangerous. If you tried to pick him up he might bite or scratch you though. And no, a monitor can't climb a smooth surface.

Re: Need Help To Identify this lizard

Thanks for taking the time to learn about it and not just freak out. Many people kill animals out of fear.
