Well $600 is a start...but breeding reptiles is an ongoing expense....with the animals you choose to breed, the tanks, supplies, feeders etc etc....Its not like buying a new wardrobe and then you are finished....once babies come along, you need more and more supplies and feeders of different size....something to think about....but again...you have your starting wages there.....good luck!

Leopard geckos are easy. So are Crested geckos, but you have to pump them full of fat, protein and calcium or they crash in a few clutches. Maybe a placental skink, like a blue tongue? No incubation time!!
From experience, Geckos are cheap to care for with a good selling price. Skinks are very expensive to feed and a really bad selling price in most cases. |

Leo's are great and fun but you might want to buy a male corn snake and give them a try, this will save you money because you'll only need to buy a mate being you already have a female. But do your reserch before you buy anything and when you do decide on something buy the equipment you need and set it up accordingly. Then you can buy the herps of your chioce.
Good Luck |

You should focus on the type of herp YOU enjoy the most.
Breeding can be a lot of work/stress, so if you're going to invest your time and money into it, make sure it's for an animal you REALLY REALLY like. (Especially if you can't find buyers for all the babies!) You have the young female corn and I believe you mentioned that you could borrow a male corn at breeding time. This would keep your costs down. The female is still a bit too young/small to breed, but that gives to time to read up and get well-informed on breeding them. |

It sounds like your on the right trak. I would personaly get a male for the female corn you have. With weekly feedings your female should possibly be ready for next years breeding season. This gives you time for more reading finding housing for 8-20 young corns and finding out the big question. "What color form do I want to breed" (There are over 75 color and pattern forms of cornsnakes, get ready for a genetics lesson). It would also benifit you to talk with buyers and find out what they are looking to buy.
