Ok, fine. I'll fill you in on the details if it will help. LOL

Here's what I received: "I need to seek some help regarding the type of iguana I have. I bought this from locals of Batangas, Philippines and I don't really know anything about this. "

I will respond to him with a link to this thread and hopefully get him to participate directly.

I'd be willing to bet its related to mountain horned dragons or changeable lizards. It DEFINATELY looks like it. Horned dragons: genus Acanthosaura and cheangeable lizards: genus: Calotes. I've done a bit of reasearch on both of these in the past as I was tempted to buy some once. I've seen a few in a pet store once, and I've had to help people identify their MHDs twice, not counting this time. The eyes, spines, legs, and location all match. As for the specific species, that's gonna be tricker to figure out. Neither Acanthosaura or Calotes are not too common as pets, and pretty much all of them are wild caught. They're arboreal, and the care is kinda between that of a chameleon and a water dragon. Lets see what I can find that may help you out. I'm kinda leaning towards Calotes on this one though, family is with the agamids. In fact, I'm pretty sure you can rule out the Acanthosaura, but I'll keep it in here anyway. Oh, and as with many uncommon herps, the common names vary extremely, so I like to stick with the genus and species (as you may have noticed).

Ok, here's a few sites on Acanthosaura that may help you out:

There's a changable lizard in the pet shop near me (aka: Indian Blood****er lizard,. Fence Lizard..) and the one in Dom's pic looks nothing like it. Wrong colouration and wrong shape IMO.

Any luck identifying yet Dom?? -how are they housing it right now?

I know what the blood****ers are. They're a bit different from the changeable I'm talking about. Pretty much any lizard in the genus Calotes goes by changeable lizard, along with lotsa other names. I think it looks a lot like a Calote, but also a lot like Steve's find. Its a tougyh one to crack if ya ask me.

It does have the head of an anole, but also does look like a basilik. It's absolutely gorgeous is what it is. It does look very ancient and prehistoric. I would love to have one. Beautiful!
