New Tank(s)
Ok the neighbor gave us a 100-gallon aquarium for Cece (our adult common boa). I was expecting an aquarium that was longer then her current home 4'. The tank turns out to be 4' x 18" x 23" so the only difference is that it is taller. Does any one have any suggestions for what to put in this tank? We also picked up two 20-gallon tanks this week (one long and one tall). This must be free tank week. I would appreciate suggestions.

Fish! I'm not much of a fan for lizards in aquariums. Can't get much of an airflow. Unless you drill out the sides and put in some kind of grille. Plus the humidity always goes out the top. Anyway whatever you choose to put in 23 inches is a long way to reach down. You could make it into a pauladarium with a few adjustments. Take out the back wall and put plywood in then you can drill for the plumbing much easier.

Yeah a paludarium!!! You can take the tanks to a glass shop and have them drilled. If it came with a stand you could use a 20 gallon as a sump and have the 100 as a display vivarium.
Some more amphibians would be cool, maybe try your hand at dart frogs. I'm with Mike as I don't see aquariums as the best choice for lizards. You can get around the air movement with some computer fans but then you have to make sure you aren't blasting out all of the humidity. |

I've been thinking about red-eyed tree frogs (more in my price range then poison dart) so maybe. But Marty was thinking about turning it on it 23" side and use it for the bottom and putting in some kind of sliding door to make it easier to get Cece (common adult) in and out of. The glass on the 100-gallon is 3/8" thick.

Very smart Marty is. That's a good idea as well. But I'd like to see a pauladarium with the frogs.

I mentioned the idea of a pauladarium and the first thing out of his mouth was poison dart frogs. So we will see what happens.... One way or another Cece needs a new cage, one that I can get her out of.
