I am getting one from the petstore about a mile or less away. Do you think it would be ok in my car. For the sand I am not planning on using it as substrate do to impaction, but I would like to have a box of sand so it could dig. Would a shoebox be ok, or what type of box would you recomend
And to see if my info is correct,
Substrate: Papertowels...anything else
Heat: Baskin area 100-110F, rest of tank 80-90F
Humidity: Low
In tank: Hides, branches, logs, plants
Food: Insects Is this all correct, am I missing anything

Just because you purchase it from the local pet store doesn't mean that the lizard is captive-bred. ASK the store herp manager. If he doesn't know, ask for the number/name of their distributor. Some smaller petstores buy from local breeders, but you have to ask to be sure.

I feed my collared crickets, silk worms, te occasional wax worm, mustard greens, kale, dandelion greens. Be aware that if you put plants in with your collared, it may sample them, so be sure they aren't toxic.

What is the main difference between silk and wax worms. Is it just one is higher in fat. If I do end up getting a wild caught collared would the care be the same, what might I want to do differently

There's a lot of difference. Wax worms are so high in fat that I very rarely ever feed them. Think of them as french fries for reptiles. tasty as ****, but not healthy. I use thwm for treats. Silk worms, on the other hand, are actually as good, or better feeders than crickets. They are 6 times higher in protein than crickets, as well as lower in fat, higher in calcium and phosphorus. You still need to use a good vitamin/calcium powder with them, but they are as close to a perfect feeder as you will find.

The problem is, you will probably have to order them off the internet. I do.

I do, in fact. However, I also feed dark, leafy greens as I stated above. No spinach, though.
