Fire lacerta? i need help. |

that picture does look pretty similar... who knows. the store owner said they are definitely lacertas and are from florida. usually they know what they're talking about, but I really don't know with this one. he's still a juvie so I think i'm just gonna have to wait until he starts to grow and develop more to see what he really is, but gonna try to keep researching it.

lol, yeah, Merlin's right. Lacerta is simply the name of a genus of lizards native to Europe and I think parts of northern Africa. There is no common name "lacerta". It's for this reason that I reserved the possibility of this still being an old-world species. I remember back when IDing a whiptail once they do look very similar to some African and European genera.

It goes to show that petstores don't know everything.
It looks ALOT like the Meroles to me. (also, be careful if you are feeding it on the sand, it can cause impactions) |
